hi guys i jus had a qustion i needed to ask people, firstly i am only 18 years of age and my aim from this is to find a car that my mum once drove and love.

the car was infact a mark 1 gte cabriolet in white, however i have been told that this was one of only 32 that were ever made. My dad was told this when he brought it from vauxhall at the time when he brought it and apparently one of these cars were sent to each of the top vauxhall dealers around the london area. Other features that she has spoken about is that it was a bertone and that it had electric dials within along with a white soft top roof (both of these were extremely rare back in them days). She believes the car was a 2.0 litre 16v, however this is not a certainty.

The aim i have behind this is to get a picture of one of these cars (i did want to get her one but if they are that rare they will be worth a fortune) and if i can get a picture i am most likely looking to buy a standard gte and convert it to this model and make it a replica for her 50th birthday which is this year.

If anyone knows anything about what i am saying, whether it be the name, a website link, or any further details, or even if someone owns one, this would help alot! Thanks

Thats a MK2 Astra by the sound of it as bertone was the name for some of the MK2 range.

Quick goggle search http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&gbv=2&tbs=&ei=VqWWS-3bIYuOjAfk7uSJCg&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=mk2+astra+convertible&spell=1&start=0

That convertible is an aftermarket job, like the Baur e30 3 series early on.

yer it was an mk 1 but by the sounds of it, it may have been made at the end of the range or possibly during the mk 2 range, i just cant find it, i have found the same one but with a black roof, this had a white and electric dials, this is why it is apparently special edition, does anyone know an expert i can ask perhaps?

An expert!!! Hahaha

You are in the right place for mk1 knowledge. If people on here dont know of it it probably doesnt exist. But I am prepared to stand corrected on this one.

Now wheres that expert.....

It really can't be a MK1 there where no cabby's made in the MK1, there are a few in germany but these are custom built.

Also the MK1 never came with a digital dash and I would also argue that Vaux would not make only 32 cars at all.

Again what was the reg if its a B then it can be a MK2 as this is when they also came in to production.
