Long story my van has been a very long project, paid work has come first, but now I have the time and space to try and get it sorted,
Now the engine was from my cav gsi, been rebuilt
New rings and all bearings does run when it wants here's my problems,
It has started every now and then but most if the time not,
Today a checked the Oil level, very high so drained it all out, full of petrol,
Have refilled with oil,

So it appears to still have good compression,
Still not starting plugs are soaked after every attempt to start, it has a spark
But as soon as plugs are soaked it won't spark, which sounds right,
Could it be dodgy temp sender do over fueling?
Wrong pump not enough pressure?
Pressure regulator?

First thing to try is the crank sensor.

Fuel reg may be stuck, return hose blocked or injectors gummed up from sitting, try getting hold of a fuel pressure guage to see what your getting.
check everywhere for air leaks, the boot between the afm and the inlet are common to split.
Try with the afm unplugged and see if that makes any difference.
oh and put a new coolant temp sensor on it if you haven't alreay, but get a genuine not a pattern one.

Injector stuck open?

Fuel injection relay? Are ant of the relays hot?

MAF sensor issue?

I had a similar issue withmy xe and for some reason the coil wasnt getting enough voltage to create a decent spark all the time to all the plugs. Weak spark if I tested all 4 but reasonable spark when I tested one plug. Wired coil direct to battery for test purposes and boom it fired up and ran a treat. Run a new wire from ignition and has been great ever since.

New crank sensor fitted,
new good quality temp sensor fitted.
strange thing I started it with before I re fitted the rad, seemed to run well, fitted rad stated well sounded good, drove it around the yard, ( first time I've ever driven it)
then started missing again,
and back the same as before.
I did borrow a old tech 1,
Couldn't get it to read any thing, I'm going to wire up the management light see if I can read codes that way, what colour wire is it again?

Is this a coil or coil pack engine? If it's a coil type it could be breaking down as it warms up and giving a weak spark.

You can get them tested i think,

Same as you can with diesel injectors so your not forking out if they re still ok.
