To AntB. What a stonking MK1 you've built there mate, an absolute stunner, a fantastic feat of engineering.
And listen to this, out of literally 100's of cars that were there, Ant's Mk1 scooped Best in Show!! Yes, THE BEST CAR AT BILLING and absolutely deservedly so.
Well done Ant, a just reward for all of your hard work.

Cheers matey,As you can probably imagine i was made up yesterday ,i really didnt expect even to be entered let alone win it, i was really pleased with all the positive comments i got from people and it made all the hard work, skinned knuckles etc seem worthwhile, im still grinning like a cheshire cat this morning

Yeah it was nice to see a mk1 win best car in show,glad to see my 2 votes also made the difference!  have to say mate,its a pukka mk1 and was well worth the work,it truly was best car in show and probably the best mk1,ive ever clapped eyes on.
glad to see you at the show with youre missus in tow,i do belive though that "a rock" is in order though!!!! 
thought id wind you up a little more!!!!!!! hope to see you both soon!! once again top job dude.

we went cross country to miss the traffic on the M1 so we were blasting along (A508 to Market Harborough,A6 to leicester) , it wasnt too bad in there ,its supprising how much air comes in my Ickle square hatches when doing 90-100mph

I just got this email through from VxSCC:
CLUB SCOOPS CHAIRMAN’S CUP AWARD
The Vauxhall Sports Car Club had a successful weekend at this years VBOA National Rally, when it won the VBOA Chairman’s cup.
Our entry of a 4x4 Astra Mk1 GTE simply stunned the crowds. Built and owned by Anthony Ball, this amazing car was selected from the 288 vehicles displaying on the VxSCC stand, before going forward to compete against entries from other attending clubs.
A full show report will be included in the next edition of HPm – watch out for it.
