I can't tell you how nice it is to start building something back up. I know it's in the wrong order but it's giving the project a boost!

What shocks did you end up buying? Gas or oil ones? |

They were exactly the same as the ones that came out. Boge.
I suspect now owned by Sachs.
I went through three to to get the last two that GSF has. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

Another 20 plug welds on the inner wing tonight and then home to finish this:
They'll never be that clean ever again _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

Same here
You´re not gonna put that it the car will you? It will get all dirty, you should leave it in your living room as a display piece . Seriously tought, that looks amazing! A question, are you trying to reproduce the factory finish, is it suposed to be all black? I am asking this because I want the factory finish also. |

Ha ha! It does look good when it's all back together. When I finish the other one tonight I might lay between them - like spoons. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

I found some small areas on the hub carrier that still had the original finish and it was the same satin black finish. The finish that I have is undoubtedly thicker than the original and we suspected that the springs would have been slightly more matte as they really do look like expensive after market springs now.
I really wanted to go with green springs and roll-bar to break up the see of black but that was straying a bit too far from standard.
I am going with body coloured inner arches and under floor which isn't standard but could very easily be made black if I ever needed to. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

Albeit the discs are Brembo, not GM. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

I´ve allways had that doubt about the brakes, them beeing enough for the GTE, or not. Because I´ve allways heard people saying "80´s Opel cars brakes don´t brake, they just slow down"
I guess people just needed their brakes refurbished. |

Not much of an update, been plugging away at the plug welds for the nearside inner wing. Nearly done - Then I've got to plug the inner wing to the bulkhead - then to the door frame - then to a a pillar......
Thought I'd have a bit of a garage (unit) tidy as I was working away in about 2 square feet surrounded by crap.
Couldn't believe what I swept off the floor - pretty much half inch of rust and Astra scrapping covered the whole floor.
Just to make sure I'm still in the right ball-park:
