|
|
I dared to modify the top mounts.
Done in a local company that specialises in opel-vaxhauls.
Apparently up to the level of custom racers, since they had a monster Corsa at display.
Any way..

legs are from Astra G -year 2000 as he told me.
I drove up to 100kmh, 60mph with no problems, did not go faster due to road traffic.
anyway a great improvement, as some of you may recall it barely could clock more than 65kmh before...
23-4-2012 correction: legs are from ASTRA F _________________ Σ-33

that is right...
he had to make the holes bigger....
as you can see the top mount is much chunkier...
also he drilled a bit further...
i did not ask him why he did not drill in 90 degrees from the original, so i could keep my old holew intact. _________________ Σ-33 |

I dont think they are astra g struts mate, as they have a removable strut like a Corsa/Nova. They look like Astra mk3 ones to me? |

There's no reason why mk2/3 legs can't be used if your willing to make the hole bigger at the top and swap the steering arms from one side to the other side (the ball joint has a bit of offset to it and the bolt need to point the opposite way, mk3 arms fit anyway)
All vauxhall drive shafts have the same splines if using small block with small block etc
When ppl are doing these major strip downs it might be handy to change to mk3 suspension mounts all round really as there's a lot more suspension kits and top mounts available lol _________________ 1983 5dr project 1.4Ti in china blue

cheers that is just the info im after ive been doing a lot of searching and all i could come up with was modifying corsa top mounts.
And as you say why the car is in bits you would be mad to not do anything about it and as i already have mk2 rear beam i may as well have the fronts to match. _________________ orp picture diary

Has anyone tried just pulling the old bearings out!?
I think mine might have a bit of play.
