I've only recently joined this site after taking some interest in Mk1 Astras and realising that they are a bit thin on the ground so if I wanted one I should act fast. As usual I probably acted too fast and bought a little 1300S that needs some erm ..... work to say the least.
Its a reed green car that was West German built and has had some dubious repairs in the past (the paint is like sand paper).

The bonus is that because I'm saving a car thats on its last legs I wont feel guilty modifying her and changing the colour.

So far I've:
- bought a pair of genuine wings that have never been fitted to a car
- ordered inner and outer rear arches and corner repairs
- bought a lovely pair of clear front indicators (thanks Lloyd).
- removed the two fog lights and re-wired the drivers reverse light to be a fog instead using a red bulb.
- Taken the silver from the rear badges and the edges of the grill using a spot of cellulose thinners.
- Removed the side and guuter trim (some was missing/ damaged)

So here she is so far from buying her to fitting a set of wheels worth more than the car laughing

Decided to test some colours yesterday because couldnt visualise how they'd look on the car. If I'd been more patient I could masked the side to make a proper 2-tone but I wasnt. She'll be painted properly at one point.

Porsche Cassis Red (Front wing and door)

Audi Berry Pear (whole side)

Think I'll go Berry Pearl but might do the other side in Cassis just to be sure big grin

Mmm that berry colour will look stunning, I'm sure you don't need any help in deciding on a colour.

Yeah definitely going with the Berry colour now I've had it outside (bare in mind neither have been lacquered). Don't think I'm manly enough to pull off metallic pink lol.

Been off work today so changed the leaking radiator only to discover the head gaskets gone - oil in my fresh water. Think I'll just live with it for the moment.

You havent seen the Golf... cough

This is what the colours should look like if painted properly.
I honestly think both would look good but think the Berry will look the best.

In other news I've bought a set of GTE front seats big grin

I just think it's a more classic colour and would probably suit the MK1 well. The other colour is very brash and bold, which doesn't always suit a MK1.

Tricky one!

Choosing a colour is a nightmare, once it's done... it's done!
