I've tried google but struggling to find whats required to fit a C20XE engine into a 1300 shell. Are the engine mounts all in the correct places or do the chassis legs need altering at all.
Does anyone have a link to aftermarket mounts of has everyone made them themselves?

Ha ha i was just about to chuck a post up with the same title to confirm what else i needed. You need the mk2 mounts that come with the XE rather than the mk1 ones. Only need to chop/weld stuff if you are fitting the 6 speed f28.

Other than that has anyone ran an injection lump on a carb tank just using a swirl pot? or is it just best to stick an injection tank on? any bits we would need to buy that wouldnt normally be included in an xe engine package?

Nice one. Thats good to know that I'm not going to have to chop and weld the chassis.
Is the only difference between the tanks that the GTE tank is baffled as I just figured the carb tank wouldn't have a return.

Yea carb tank doesnt have a return so you need an injection one. Mk2 ones fit though with mk2 straps i think

Plenty of info on here about it.

You need to stitch up the engine or it will tear itself apart.

You just need big block mounts.

1.6 - 18 Mk1 Astra
MK2 16v (ENGINE & REAR GEARBOX MOUNTS)
MK3 as above

Main difference you will find is the mk1 gearbox mount that's on the N/S Chassis leg is different to other models (if you struggle to find one I have plenty in stock).

My belmont had a xe running from the carb tank from what I remember (been a few years off the road). I just used an extenal fuel pump with an ignition live (through a hidden kill switch) and an earthed the pump off then ran 2 lines tank/pump to the rail and plumbed it in. SCREW THE TANK BREATHERS, FLOW, RETURN, tyre smoke and big smiles mad

Make sure you plate up the 1/4 sections to the bulkhead each side or you will end up with your wheel floating around the arch.

Does that not build up too much pressure in the rail though?

I never noticed any problems with it, the rail has a regulator on it so once it reaches desired pressure it just sends it back down the return.

The fuel lines were probably under sized (from memory ID is 8mm on the feed to rail as standard, on the carb tank the pipes were a bit smaller) but it worked for the time it was on the road, even at 135mph

Doing it that way isn't any better, you still haven't got a swirl pot. Under cornering the pump could run dry causing the engine to cut out or misfire. (On a turbo engine it could melt the pistons)

Mk3 tank conversion?

I've got some pics where they should be seem welded on the wishbone mounts and steering rack mounts. Chassis legs and strut tops isn't necessary unless you want to do it.
