Anyone had their mk1 "acid dipped"

I found this place in birmingham and they have good reviews,

Ive read up on some forums and like anything its all hear say on the positives and negatives,

Wondered if anyone had had it done themselves ?

Looks a good way of treating every where, and uses the same paint process as modern cars when they positive/negative charge the shell and paint so it sticks like shxt to a blanket.

Ok, they used to use the same place that did LDV London taxis and they had a massive tank. Now Lonfon taxis are made abroad, they only have a smaller tank which mean your car had to be dipped on its side. I've "heard" stories where they've drilled a hole in your brand new, hard to find, might be the last one, quarter panel so let air out.

If you do decide to go down this route then you MUST have the electro plated primer too or you'll have bare metal in places you can't get to.

I've though about dipping but when I found out about the smaller tank and hike drilling I changed my mind. I did however find somewhere else that had a full size tank.

Check my facts out, the could be wrong but that's what I've heard.

There is a few other places i suppose, i can ask about the tanks size ?
They ve been dipping 14 years youd have thought they d have the right tool for the job,

Id definitely get it electro primed,

There s a few pictures of some mk1 escorts that look very nice.

Imo, Have it sand blasted, repair the damage, have it dipped and primed.

You can get it dipped, take home with no primer, do the repairs,
then get it redipped so it gets rid of the crap paint on the aftermarket panels, plus the surface rust from taking it home, then they prime it,

So dip twice, prime once.

Ive already had the van blasted a few years ago but theres some grot behind the outriggers that needs attention.

I was aiming to the cheapest option. Dipping it twice is going to cost more isn't it?

The place on the link above do it twice, that is part of their process I think.

Got a quote from another place,

£895 dip
£495 prime
plus VAT

I d have to ask these about dipping twice,

I think the second dip wont be as hard as everything was removed first time.
