Need some info on what to do with this sunroof cage. Its fecked, theres more rain in the car than outside.
Someone else must have had this problem before, If so What do you do??
Any ideas ????

cut the roof off and weld a better one on,

this is the reason i never want a mk1 with a sunroof.

Or if you want an easy way, chop out the tray, it's not held on by much anyway, plate up the hole and bobs ya uncle, one non sunroof car

Been here before methinks, rip it out, buy a joggler (edge setter) from machine mart for 38 quid and cut a plate about 30mil bigger and then joggle the edge which will give you a recess which will sit under the roof edge thus allowing the sunroof blank to finish at the same level as the roof remember to put seam sealer on the plate to stop leaks between the spot weld holes.
The joggler also has a hole punch on the oposite side of the tool to punch out spot weld holes. If you are gonna get it painted then it holds no problems for you.
If you wanna pic of the finished plate edge and the tool let me know and I'll take a piccy and put it up.

Heres your pics, excuse the grimy fingers, I've had a sh$t day in work Very Happy
You can see that the head turns to allow you to punch spot weld holes. Only problem is youll have to weld the spot welds upside down and get covered in sparks unless you punch the holes in the roof and weld down.
