how important is this this thing?
And if it is does anyone have a diagram Or pictures of how it should look? I know it goes on the filler tube under the wheel arch but not sure about the pipes?

I've got one on the tank off the van. I'll take a look at it and see how its plumbed in.

As stated above it's a non-return valve for the fuel tank's breather system. It's actual purpose is to stop fuel flowing out of the breather pipes in the event of the car ending up on its roof! So, it's *quite* important on safety grounds.
