Right guys. Still have an oil leak. Coming from bottom left of the engine. I think it might be the crank seal in the oil pump but I'm sure I replaced that. I have also bought another sump gasket. It says 5nm in the Haynes but obviously gasket technology has come on since '84 so would that still be right. I have tightened the bolts to finger tight and a bit more which would probably be about 5nm but still leaking. What do you guys reckon I should tighten to? Was there anything specific I should of done to the crank seal when I replaced it? |

did you use sealer??
sump
sealer
gasket
sealer
block
then tighten finger tight then half a turn for good measure
if its not the sump its either camshaft oil seal, crankshaf oil seal or rocker cover gasket |

No. Didn't use sealant. I have got my head in the block and it really looks like it's the crank seal. Looks like it's dripping from there, round the cork gasket and dripping onto exhaust. Oh well, easy enough to fix |

Another quick question. When doing timing, the bottom pulley notch obviously lines up with the pointer. Where do you look from to line it up? |

Very good! I have a set on mine, bolt straight on though you need to do away with the dust shields unless you bent them out the way _________________
