I tought it was suposed to make all the holes and drilling before the car gets painted, to be more rust protected, but yeah, I get your way of doing it, putting some primer on the holes you will drill later, because the holes get hidden anyways by the bodykit, so no problem in messing with the paint in those areas. |

ITS ALIVE!
Today, for the first time in 7 years my Kadett moved under its own power.
I took it out of my garage and turned it around at the top of the street.
I gave it a squirt on the way back. At first it bogged down, cleared, lit the wheels up and I had to pull the hand brake on as it has no other brakes ATM.
Broken Master cylinder.
It suffers badly from over fueling. Misfires, smoke, stinks,
If I can figure out that it should run ok.
New Stainless exhaust. Its actually a Scorpion system. It didn't fit very well so I chopped it up, make it better and made bespoke mounts. It needs testing now.

Turbo Flutter. It sounds even better under load.

The W reg number plate on the door belonged to my 1st MK1.
My "New" Irmscher wheels.
Hahaha! Chuffed to f**king bits!!! |

Its taken a long time due to my Job in all fairness. I'm always trying to get down the garage but other things take priority sometimes. I've tried not to cut corners too. I'd rather wait than smash it together.
The inlet manifod is going onto my 2.0 8v engine I'm building.
I have a new 1.8 head, Z20LET bottom end. C20GET intake manifold and i'm going to make a equal length turbo manifold so it doesn't try and burn one of the valves like on C20LET's.

Not yet but that's next on the list of things to do.
I've been looking for the standard Lambda figures at idle. I've found 13.2 should be about right.
Under load it shoud not go above this and when driving normally you can expect to get 14 - 15.
12.5 under load would be ideal for my setup. |

Cool, thanks for that. I've found some video's on Youtube about tuning the L-Jetronic setup and also a little "black box" an american company sell to adjust the injector timing slightly.
I have a theory about using bigger injectors but need to test/prove it.
Tbh the only real way of ensuring this engine runs properly is with standalone management. I believe I can get it to run reliably as is, but I will never be able to get its full potential safely. It might, one day decide to do something random then, pop. |

Finally fitted the wheels and tyres and I think it looks great tbh. Not outlandish at all. Even though they are new they need a fair bit of lead to counter balance them.
The Kit is being fitted atm and i've got loads of small jobs to do but its coming along nicely. I need a few parts to finish her but they are nothing rare.
I took it for a few naughty drives up and down the street. Apart from the cage rattling around because i'm still working on it, it seems to have no nasty noises.
Oh, I forgot to tighten a jubilee clip for one of the boost pipes. It quickly reminded me by blowing the pipe clean off.
Happy

Billing?
That's a weird location for a washer bottle...
I bet you're made up Ash.
I really hope I get mine sorted within 7 years as my unit is costing a fortune! _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

Bit of an update:
I've been playing with the fueling and its a lot better now. Sits at 14.5 or thereabouts.
The electrics are almost sorted. Lots of intermittent earth problems.
The front and rear strut braces are fitted.
The Boot lock and arhces are no the way.
The Gearbox has been flushed and filled with new oil (proper stinks that stuff)
The final alloy wheel just came out of the body shop and looks fantastic! Its in the garage getting the tyre fitted and will go on the car tomorrow.
The Cage is fitted less door bars (the TÜV tester is old and fat and I need him to pass it) they will go in later.
Its going for a TÜV soon |
