Just thought i'd say hello as just joined your excellent informative forum, recently purchased a Mk1 GTE, in need of restoration. Loved these cars since they first appeared on the hot hatch scene in my younger days. Fully intend to carry out all necessary work to make him roadworthy.
Do we have any active Mk1 GTE members in either Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire ?? As l can contact for reference purposes.
Look forward to meeting and speaking to you guys.
Regards,
Jon. _________________ "Once Driven Forever Smitten" |

I think most of the 15 or so gtes kicking about are all horded up in Scotland lol
Fire any questions up on here, I don't think theirs much that hasn't been done on these cars by their owners so someone will know.
Welcome to the site, oh and get some pics up _________________

Hi Jon,
Welcome mate, if you are after some bits and panels for the resto the best place to get bits are at the VBOA rally in July at Billing.
Good luck with the build and lets see some photo's _________________

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, will try post some photo's of the car as soon as I can, been a little busy of late. Also own a Mk2 Cavalier Cabrio in near perfect condition after a lot of work, and a member of mk2cav.com, have been looking for a GTE for sometime, and finally found one although it needs quite a lot of work as well as removing the redtop engine and box, and replacing it with the original 1.8e which quite fortunately I have two of. The only daunting part will be the electrics.
Anyway once again thanks for the welcome,
Regards,
Jon. _________________ "Once Driven Forever Smitten" |

No mate, because every time I look at how much more welding I am going to have to do, seem to give me a pain in the nether regions, so he is definitely a he _________________ "Once Driven Forever Smitten" |
