Thought I would share this with the forum.

I have been pondering this conversion for a while and with the intention of using a heavy Saab lump up front with possibly an F28 6 speed finally decided to go for it.

To get this far has been relatively simple but would have been easier if I had bought a non adjustable unit!
I have had to cut and shut the unit and attach the Astra end to the top of the unit. You will also note it has been re clocked slightly to kick the huge motor off to an angle.
I have trial fitted the dash and it looks to clear and only a tiny bit of the motor exposed.
Next step is power (50 Amp feed!) to verify it works.
Will be using an ABS feed and Corsa orange relay so should not need a controller as will rely on the original units ECU.

Have also had to brace the unit using the extra Corsa mount as not sure if the two off original mounts would be man enough for the torque the motor looks like it can produce.

Pleased with the result so far. Will let you know how it functions.

Also a big thanks to Dean (greenmk1) for the spare steering column that I had to sacrifice and a few other parts.

Marcus

Over the winter period Tuffty and me have just fitted a Corsa B rack with the power regulator , now waiting for a dry day to get it out on the road,
can't wait to see what it feels like. The only thing we had to do was relocate
the fuse panel under the dash. big grin Also will the dash was out we fitted central locking and an alarm system.

The b and c units are similar, but the b is shorter and has more scope for chopping up to fit than the c. Which is typical as c ones are 10 a penny.
