http://www.opel-infos.de/getriebe/f16_5.html
These infos complicate more that clarify the problem. !
Anyway if you want to make a car for accelaration then a CR 3.94 is better .
For me the sweet spot is to have with 5th Gear 300RPMS 100Kph .
If you have a C20XE a Longer gearbox will help crusing.
Many years ago i had an excel with all Opel gearboxes and final ratios so to simulate ( with specific tyres) the speed with different boxes . _________________ Greetings from Greece . . . |

Practically can anyone say how this would work out on the road(assuming correct tyres fitted): mk1GTE with CR vs 2.016vGTE (with whatever gearbox it has).
For the standard 2.016vGTE the roadspeeds are approx:
2nd Gear : 20mph = 2000rpm
3rd Gear : 50mph = 2900rpm
4th Gear : ???????
Thanks for the info. The only thing from memory the mk1s GTE's with the CR gearbox had brutal acceleration. I can't remember what rev range I was drivng in. |
