|

First off you need the digital dash & both plugs from the rear of the digital dash(make sure you leave as much wire on the plugs as poss), the Mk2 suround from the dash & the gearbox transducer, (located on the Mk2 where your MK1 speedo cable fits in) . Cut off the plug from your dash & wire the two Mk2 plugs to the Mk1s wires as follows:
car - digital dash plugs
blue - blue (temperature guage)
green - green (rev counter)
white - white (main beam warning lamp)
grey/green - white/yellow (side lights)
n/a - black/white (join to indicator stalk) see below
n/a - black/green (join to indicator stalk) see below
brown/white - brown/white (handbrake lamp)
blue/yellow - blue yellow (oil presure guage)
blue/white - blue/white (battery lamp)
n/a - blue/red (speed transducer)See bellow.
blue/green - blue/green (oil light)
blue/black - blue/black (fuel guage)
all black wires join together
all brown wires join together
tape grey/greens, brown/yellow & brown/blue up out of the way.
the speed transducer has three wires:
black goes to the car battery or ignition live,
brown goes to earth & blue/red goes to the digital dash.
Where above it states join to indicator stalks, this is because the Mk2 dash has 2 indicator tell tale lamps & the Mk1 only has the one. Remove the steering column cover & join to indicator wires left & right.
The digital dash will need the two locating lugs on the bottom trimming up a bit to fit the Mk1s dash holes. Also if you then fit the dash you will notice that you can see behind it! What I did was cut the mk2 Astras clock suround & glue the required bit to the mk1s suround. Easy! Then just screw in the transducer where your speedo cable fits in. Done. Sit back & admire! |
