I suppose I aught to start a restoration thread for Gilfy.
Got a unit sorted yesterday with a pit and rather than spend on fixing the brakes so that it could be towed, I found a local company to stick it on the back of a lorry.
At least this time he got on the lorry under his own steam!
I can see a little tear...
I have have high hopes for him, there are some nice little signs that underneath, he's ok. Like the rubber bungs in the wheel arch used to waxoil the sills (I assume) are still there meaning that bit, at least, hasn't rusted.
I'm 70/30 he's going to emerge in white but that's subject to change until the first coat of paint is squirted! _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."
And this is why, my GTE restoration thread: http://www.mk1oc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16119 |

I'll vote silver too. The rarest colour. _________________ throw away the chicken sh$t gun, you don't just want to pull the trigger, you want to put the knife in me. |

Silver all day for me! I had a white one and was always having to clean it! Silver hides muck well and doesn't send your eyes funny when trying to polish it (unlike white) _________________ There's no such thing as a stupid question... Just stupid people! |

White is the best colour, then Black. A clean silver car don't look much different to a dirty one. White also hides imperfections |

If it was purely down to personal choice, silver is actually my least favourite car colour.
I'm more worried about what I "should do" in terms of a restoration.
My favourite car colour is blue but that's not a standard colour so is a no, no for me. _________________ "A fine example of how not to build a car..."

china blue on left and smoke blue on right. I prefer smoke but it is a bit baby blue!
If you were to paint it china blue then you'll be the first person I've seen that make a GTE look like a lesser model, usually the other way round! _________________ There's no such thing as a stupid question... Just stupid people! |
